TID Handling

Last updated: 2023-06-30

The TID (Terminal ID) Handling service facilitates the allocation of unique terminal identifiers for your ECR (Electronic Cash Register) integration. This is a critical first step in connecting your payment terminals to the Westpay network.

Overview

The TID handling process follows this flow:

  1. Merchant onboards stores as sub-customers in the Westpay Access Portal
  2. Merchant requests terminals through the portal for each store
  3. ECR application calls POST /getTerminalId service
  4. Provides store ID and ECR ID to obtain a unique Terminal ID

TID Handling Call Flow

The returned Terminal ID and password are used to configure the physical payment terminal for that specific ECR location.

When to Use TID Handling

Use the TID handling endpoints when:

  • Setting up a new store location with Westpay terminals
  • Adding additional ECR lanes to an existing store
  • Replacing a terminal that needs a new Terminal ID
  • Automating your terminal onboarding workflow

Authentication Requirements

All TID handling endpoints require both:

  • Authorization: Bearer <access-token> header
  • Ocp-Apim-Subscription-Key: <merchant-subscription-key> header
