Overview

Welcome to Westpay SoftPOS

WestPay SoftPOS is a contactless payment processing Android application that allows other POS applications to initiate payment transactions through Android Intents. Your application communicates with SoftPOS using the standard Android App2App pattern — launching SoftPOS as an Activity and receiving results via the Activity Result API.

Key Capabilities

• Purchase — Process contactless card payments.
• Refund — Initiate refund transactions.
• Reversal — Reverse the last processed transaction.
• Transaction History — Retrieve a list of transactions for a given date range.
• Last Transaction — Get the details of the most recently processed transaction.

How It Works

1. Your Android application creates an Intent with the appropriate SoftPOS action and any required extras.
2. You launch the Intent using the Activity Result API (registerForActivityResult).
3. SoftPOS processes the request (card tap, PIN entry, etc.).
4. SoftPOS returns a result with RESULT_OK or RESULT_CANCELED.
5. Your application reads the response extras from the returned Intent to determine the outcome.

Minimum Requirements

• Android SDK 21 (Android 5.0) or higher
• WestPay SoftPOS application installed on the target device

Intent Actions

All integration is done through Android Intents. Intent.CATEGORY_DEFAULT must be included in every Intent.
